Inspired by witness testimonies and letters from the time, ‘Siege and Storm’ tells the story of the last few days of the Siege of Newcastle in 1644, set at the height of the English Civil War. Newcastle is the last remaining Royalist stronghold in North-East England and despite his men being outnumbered twenty-to-one, the town’s belligerent mayor John Marley is determined not to give up the town.
This film was commissioned by Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums and currently exhibiting at Newcastle Discovery until October 30th 2011

Working collaboratively with young people from Newcastle, ‘Last’ is a video art installation inspired by John Martin’s apocalyptic painting ‘The Last Man’. Exhibited for three months at Laing Art Gallery as part of the Great British Art Debate, and selected by Tate Britain to show at their 'John Martin: Beyond Apocalypse' exhibition, this film explores the regrets of some people who discover they are the last on Earth...

Arpeggio Films managed the multi-award winning Beacon Hill Film Project between 2005 – 2011, which supports learning disabled filmmakers and artists to create and exhibit their own projects. We have since co-founded Beacon Hill Arts social enterprise, which will continue this valuable work.

This is a series of mini-films that reveal day to day life being the parent of a child with disabilities or additional needs. The films are designed to raise awareness of the challenges, routines, hopes and joys encountered by parents & carers and raise awareness and understanding amongst professionals and the wider public.

Sunderland University commissioned Arpeggio Films to make a promo-documentary about a series of summer Musical Theatre workshops for young people from the city. The film charts the group’s progress, culminating in a special performance of their work to a public audience, including the region’s leading musicians and opera professionals.
At a time when concerns over childhood obesity is high on the national agenda, this documentary charts several methods designed to get young people off the couch, away from the games console and out into the fresh air and big wide world.
This documentary explores the philosophy of Restorative Justice: a process through which victims are supported to communicate with the perpetrators of the crime. It tells the story from the point of view of victims and was screened at the National Youth Justice Board.
